The Habitat Young
Leaders and Professionals (HYLP) Program is a brand-new addition to our
Habitat-affiliate here in Trenton. HYLP is a networking group of young
professionals and college student leaders who will be looking to create
connections through events held by the group, to not only aid the Habitat of
Trenton through fundraising and other means, but also to create social
networking among volunteers in the Greater Mercer County Area. HYLP is a
relatively new initiative that has begun to take form within our neighboring
affiliates, and with the Habitat of Trenton constantly looking for innovative
solutions, the new Director of Community Outreach, Chelsea Naylor, has
initialized this very unique program. Currently being spear-headed by
professionals in the area along with college students from TCNJ, Rider, and
Princeton, membership within the group is steadily rising with recruitment being
one of the main issues on the agenda, but with the recent tragic incident caused by
Hurricane Sandy along the Jersey Shore, the group is looking to organize resources
to aid victims of the storm. With the program gradually taking shape, it looks
like HYLP will become a very influential entity within our Habitat affiliate
for years to come.
